California State Campgrounds: A Vacation Experience You Won’t Want to Miss
from:The state of California is known for its lovely Pacific coastline…its stately beach houses…and its various star attractions. But what you might not realize is that the West Coast state is also home to some magnificent camping sites. In fact, once you’ve visited California state campgrounds, you may never want to leave—the experience can be that life-altering.
California state campgrounds run the gamut, in terms of location, recreational opportunities, and amenities. For a particularly memorable camping adventure, you might want to check out Angel Island State Park. The only way to get to the park is by public ferry or private boat. The island is also closed to skateboarders, roller skaters, and dogs—so peace and tranquility are almost guaranteed. You can, though, bring a bicycle onto the island for some enchanting rides. This island offers breathtaking views of the San Francisco skyline, the Marin Headlands, and Mount Tamalpais, so you’ll want to be sure to bring a camera along with you to capture all the scenic moments.
For another option in California state campgrounds, consider a trip to the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. This park is actually the largest in California, consisting of a dozen wilderness areas, five-hundred miles of dirt roads, and numerous hiking trails. The park gets its unusual name from the Spanish explorer Juan Bautista de Anza and the Spanish name for bighorn sheep, borrego.
This magnificent parcel of land, which is located on the eastern edge of San Diego County, offers visitors the chance to spot an array of wildlife, including roadrunners, golden eagles, iguanas, and red diamond rattlesnakes. The scenery is also quite stunning, thanks to its wildflowers, palm groves, and cacti.
But, just because you’re in the great outdoors, that doesn’t mean that you have to be cut off from the rest of the world. Anza-Borrego Desert State Park offers AT&T Wi-Fi Service, which can enable you to access the Internet through your laptop or personal digital assistant. Therefore, you can enjoy the best of both worlds: the natural world and the virtual one.
California state campgrounds offer all of the natural wonders you’ve come to expect from the Sunshine State—along with a sizeable number of amenities. Therefore, you don’t necessarily have to “rough it” when you visit California state campgrounds—in fact, any one of the camp sites can easily become your home away from home.
While a camp site might not have the allure of a Disney theme park, it can be exciting in its own unique way—introducing you and your children to sights and sounds you’ve never experienced before. As a result, a vacation at a California campground can easily become the adventure of a lifetime.
